Mercedes-Benz E220d launched in India at Rs 57.14 lakh
Mercedes-Benz India on Friday, launched the E220d variant to the E-Class LWB version of the luxury sedan for a price of Rs 57.14 lakh (ex showroom, Pune). The new E220d is the third variant to the recently launched E-Class LWB in India. The E220d variant, which replaces the outgoing E250d variant in India, is placed between E200 and E350d trim in India. However, the waiting period for the top spec E350d has gone up to 6-8 weeks.
Till now, Mercedes-Benz has received close to 120 bookings for the E220d. Mercedes-Benz had launched the E200 and E350d in February for Rs 56.15 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) and Rs 69.47 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) respectively.
This E-Class is the most advanced E-Class ever to be made and for the first time launched in its extended wheelbase version. It is also the first LWB car to be manufactured in India taking PM Narendra Modi’s Made-in-India initiative forward.
Engine:
The new E-Class LWB E220d variant will come with a 1995cc, four cylinder, diesel engine that produces peak power of 191 bhp and peak torque of 400Nm, mated to Mercedes 9-speed 9G-tronic automatic gearbox.
Design:
The E-Class LWB has elongated bonnet coupled with a coupe-esque roof flowing into a broad-shouldered tail end. The extended vehicle body is characterised by short overhangs, a long wheelbase, large wheels and taut, flanks displaying stylish and dynamic interpretation of the feature line. . The sporty contour with high, well-balanced beltline and the lower side windows lends the saloon a lightweight appearance.
Dimensions:
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB comes with a wheelbase of 3079 mm and is 5063 mm in length, 1860 mm in width and 1494 mm in height.
Features:
The E-Class LWB comes with Touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel make their first appearance in a car. Like a smartphone interface, the Touch Controls respond precisely to horizontal and vertical swiping movements, allowing the driver to control the entire infotainment system without having to take their hands off the steering wheel.
Competition:
The E-Class LWB pits against Audi A6, Jaguar XF, Volvo S90 and upcoming BMW 5 Series in India.
