Mitchell Starc all set to return to international cricket
Steven Smith, Australian captain, is confident about the impending return of ace strike bowler Mitchell Starc. The left-arm quick will be back in Australian colours in the upcoming tri-nation tournament in the West Indies, also featuring South Africa.
Starc hasn’t played any cricket since suffering a stress fracture in his foot last November and his return will add extra sharpness to the Australian bowling attack. The recovery period led to Starc missing out on the home series against West Indies, the One-Day and Twenty20 International matches against India, the trip to New Zealand, the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and the ninth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has been contracted to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
“It’s nice to have Mitchell Starc back bowling the way he is,” Smith said on Monday (May 23). “He’s looking fresh and bowling at good pace. Hopefully some of the South African and West Indies batsmen are a little bit scared at the moment. It’s exciting to have him back and hopefully he can have some success straight away, or pick up where he left off,” the Australian captain added.
