Modi likely to declare special package for AP
Sources have revealed that the Narendra Modi government is most likely to announce a special package for Andhra Pradesh to appease the Chandrababu Naidu government which has been under tremendous pressure to get special category status to the state.
It is stated that the Prime Minister’s Office has collected all the data pertaining to the special package from various departments after holding a series of discussions with the officials concerned.
It is stated that the total estimated cost of the Polavaram project is Rs 35,000 crore, of which the Centre had released only Rs 350 crore so far and it has to reimburse the expenditure of Rs 2,500 crore spent by the State government.
Meanwhile AP CM had asked for the release of Rs 5,000 crore for this year, while Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati has sent a proposal for Rs 16,000 crore. And the Centre is likely to ask the NABARD to grant loan for the project and it would be reimbursed by the Central government.
