Narendra Modi meets Nawaz Sharif at SCO Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met his Pakistani counter part Nawaz Sharif in Astana ahead of SCO summit. Mr. Modi and Mr. Sharif attended a welcome banquet to the small grouping that currently comprises China, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Mr. Modi landed in Astana to attend the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), where India and Pakistan will be inducted as full members.
Sources said the two Prime Ministers exchanged pleasantries at the function, but no bilateral meeting was expected.
“Since it was the first occasion when the two leaders came across each other after Mr. Sharif’s operation, Mr. Modi enquired about his health. He also enquired about Mr. Sharif’s mother and family,” an official source present there, said.
