Nine dead in an RTC bus-lorry collision in Nalgonda
Nine persons were killed in a ghastly road mishap and several others sustained severe injuries at Indrapalanagaram village of Ramannapet mandal here on Wednesday.
The Narketpally depot Telangana State RTC bus was proceeding to Nalgonda from Bhongir when a lorry coming in the opposite direction hit it leading to the accident. The passengers, sitting in the seats on the right wing of the bus including the driver, were killed on the spot since this part of the bus was totally damaged due to the intensity of collision.
Nalgonda Superintendent of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal said that while nine persons were killed, the injured were rushed to Bhongir, Rammannapet and Kamineni Hospitals. The officials had sent a medical team to Rammannapet Hospital from Government General Hospital, Nalgonda to provide better treatment.
The number of deaths may go up since the condition of some of the injured is said to be critical.
Telangana Energy Minister G. Jagadishwar Reddy, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and Transport Minister P. Mahendar Reddy arrived at the spot following the direction of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The Ministers said that the Government would order a probe into the incident.
