One civilian killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan near Poonch
One civilian was killed as Pakistani Army indulged in heavy cross border firing targeting Indian positions and civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting the Indian side to retaliate.
“Pakistani troops targeted the Indian Army posts and civilian areas along the LoC in Poonch sector with small arms, automatic and mortars at 1655 hours,” an army officer said.
He said the army was retaliating strongly and effectively to the ceasefire violation.
One civilian identified as Tanveer Ahmed died when a shell fired by the Pakistani troops fell on his house. The civilians shifted him to the Poonch Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
