PM Modi gifts cows to 200 families in Rwanda
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gifted cows to around 200 households in Rwanda, where PM Modi is on a two-day state visit. The cows were gifted under the Rwandan government’s ‘Girinka’ social protection scheme.
The cows gifted were sourced from Rwanda itself.
Modi’s three-nation tour of Africa. Rwanda – one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies – is his first stop and he has become the first prime minister to visit the country.
On Monday, after one-on-one talks with President Paul Kagame, Modi announced that India will soon open a mission in Rwanda. India also extended a credit line of USD 200 million to Rwanda.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi held wide-ranging talks with President Paul Kagame and discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in trade and agriculture sector.
The two countries signed agreements on leather and allied areas and agricultural research.
India also extended two lines of credit- one of USD 100 million for development of industrial parks and Kigali special economic zone (SEZ) in Rwanda and another one for USD 100 million for agriculture.
After Rwanda, PM Modi will visit Uganda for a two-day visit, the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister since 1997.
