PM Modi lays foundation for two Metro routes in Mumbai

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone for two major elevated Metro routes — Dahisar(w) to D N Nagar (part of Dahisar-charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd Metro-II project) and the Andher (E)-Dahisar (E) Metro-VII that will run along Western Express highway.

‪The two Metro lines will decongest commuter transport in the crowded western suburbs and is being constructed at a collective cost of Rs 12,618 crore. They are proposed to be complete by 2019.

State ministers, MLAs and MPs from Shiv Sena, the BJP ally in Maharashtra, “boycotted” the event after their chief Uddhav Thackeray skipped PM’s rally to meet the farmers in drought affected areas on Sunday.
