Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with dual rear cameras launched

Samsung has finally lifted the lid from its flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 8. The device has been in the news since quite some time in the form of rumours and leaks. Billing it as one of the most powerful handsets made by the company, Samsung launched its new phablet in an event in New York, some place where the Galaxy Note 7 was launched last year.

Samsung, at the event, said that the Galaxy Note 8 will be available for pre-orders starting August 24 in the US. The device will arrive in Midnight Black, Deep Sea Blue and Orchid Gray colour variants. The device will be hitting the stores starting September 15.

The company has also given some offers along with the handset in the US. Consumers who purchase a Galaxy Note8 between August 24, 2017, and September 24, 2017, get their choice of a free Samsung Gear 360 camera ($229.99 retail value) or a free Galaxy Foundation kit with Samsung 128GB EVO+ memory card and Fast Wireless Charging Convertible ($189.98 retail value).

Running Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 sports a 6.3-inch Quad HD+ (2960×1440 pixels) Super Amoled ‘Infinity’ display with 521ppi. The handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, clubbed with 6GB LPDDR4 RAM.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available in three variants based on the inbuilt storage – 64GB/128GB and 256GB.
The optics department comprises of a dual rear camera setup. The setup includes two 12MP sensors. While the first one is a wide angled lens with f/1.7 aperture, the secondary camera includes a telephoto zoom lens with f/2.4 aperture. At the front there is an 8MP f/1.7 aperture shooter. Samsung also says that both the rear cameras come with OIS or Optical Image Stabaliser.

Backed by a 3300mAh battery, the Galaxy Note 8 supports wireless fast charging tech. Some of the connectivity options include Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, NFC, GPS and Wi-Fi.

As for the stylus, Samsung has introduced an ‘enhanced’ S Pen that can take notes in Screen off memo or quickly annotate documents and photos.It has a finer tip and improved pressure sensitivity. The company has also introduced Live Messages that lets you handwrite a message, add special effects and share it as an animated GIF.

Talking about the Galaxy Note 8 accessories, Samsung has improved its DeX capabilities. Users will now be able to continue video chats while docking the handset on to the DeX. Sharing screens while video chatting are also possible using the phablet.
