Sathyaraj apologises to Karnataka people ahead of ‘Baahubali 2’ release

Actor Sathyaraj, who essays the role of Katappa in the Baahubali  films, apologised to the people of Karnataka for his alleged some ‘inflammatory’ remarks during the Cauvery agitation a few years ago. However, he went on to say that he will continue to lend his voice for the welfare of Tamilians. “If any producer or director looks at me as a liability after this controversy, I request them to not cast me in their films,” the actor said in a video. The actor also appealed for the smooth release of the Baahubali 2: The Conclusion on April 28

Pro-Kannada organisations have been protesting against the release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion in Karnataka.

Director S.S. Rajamouli on Thursday sought to distance himself and his Baahubali 2 team from Mr. Sathyaraj’s comments. “The producer and I want to clarify on the issue… The comments must have pained some of you but there is no connection with the movie. Those were [his] personal comments and were made some nine years ago,” the director said in a video message on his official Twitter page.

The director said Sathyaraj has been “updated about the situation” but beyond that the team could not do much. “I request you not to involve us in this matter as it is nowhere connected to us,” he said.
