Shankarsinh Vaghela quits Congress
Veteran Congress leader Shankarsinh Vaghela announced on Friday that he had been “relieved from the Congress” and that he was resigning as Leader of the Opposition in Gujarat.
Addressing a public rally in Gandhinagar, organised on his 77th birthday, Mr. Vaghela said he was first a “victim of the BJP’s internal conspiracy and now a Congress conspiracy.”
Mr. Vaghela thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for making him Textiles Minister in 2004. “I told her that I would never join the BJP,” he said.
