South Central Railway to run 625 special trains for Krishna Pushkarams
The South Central Railway will operate 625 special trains for Krishna Pushkarams from August 11 to 24 in addition to 36 more trains from East Coast Railway.
Double decker trains from Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati would be operated for the festival. Of the total number of trains, 480 are unreserved and passengers can make current bookings for their journey.
SCR General Manager Ravindra Gupta on Wednesday inaugurated the Krishna Pushkarams website and released the time-table for the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that additional ticket counters, inquiry terminals, drinking water, toilets and other facilities were made at a cost of Rs.35 crore. Over 2,600 additional staff would be deployed in Vijayawada to meet the situation. As many as 107 additional booking counters, 34 automatic Ticket Vending machines, 69 catering outlets, 903 drinking water tanks, 62 wheelchairs, 488 additional toilets would be provided at the identified stations.
As many as 12,50 personnel of the Railway Protection Force, Scouts and Guides and NGOs will participate in the security. A central room would be set up at Vijayawada Station and the security personnel would monitor the surveillance cameras round the clock, he said.
