Terrorists attack CRPF bus in J&K, 8 jawans killed; 2 militants shot dead

Eight CRFP personnel were killed in a shootout in Pulwama district of south Kashmir when militants on Saturday afternoon attacked a patrol on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. A police official said two militants were also killed in the exchange of gunfire.

Preliminary reports suggest heavily armed militants laid an ambush near Pampore’s Frestbal area, around 30 km south of Srinagar, and opened fire on a CRPF bus.

The Road Opening Party (ROP) of the CRPF retaliated and, in the fierce gun battle that ensued.

This is fourth attack of militants in the Valley in the past two days. While three attacks were carried out in Sopore, one IED was defused in Srinagar.
