Three Congress MLAs from Gujarat resign, set to join BJP
Two legislators Balwant Sinh Rajput and Tejshri Patel have resigned as legislators and are set to join the BJP in midst of elections for three Rajya Sabha seats.
P.I. Patel, the Congress legislator from Vijapur, is also likely to tender his resignation.
According to sources, Rajput, Chief whip of Congress in the Assembly, is likely to be fielded by the BJP against veteran Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who is a lone Congress candidate for upper House.
Mr Rajput and Ms Patel submitted their resignation to Assembly Speaker Ramanlal Vora.
Mr Rajput is a senior Congress legislator and is relative of Shankersinh Vaghela, who also quit as leader of the opposition.
